Lawrence Welk, a Sunday fixture,

Blandly played a pleasant mixture

Of the tunes of yesteryear

With an affable veneer.

And each week his TV family

Took the scene a trifle hammily,

Bringing joy, we will assume,

To every grandma’s living room.
