Just Folk
Canteloube took more than thirty years to complete the compilation of his most admired and famous collection of songs, Chants d'Auvergne. These passionate songs reflect the landscapes of the Auvergne in lush orchestral colors. -- adapted from Wikipedia
Joseph Canteloube once wrote
An opera in Occitan,
A language of such little note,
It seemed an ill-considered plan.
But in his Songs of the Auvergne,
Arranging folk songs he had found,
(Lavish, lush, not too moderne),
He found himself on firmer ground.
