Johann or Johannes Bach (26 November 1604 – buried 13 May 1673) was a German composer and musician.

There are so many Bach’s around
They’re divvied up by where they’re found,
And one branch of the family vine
Is labelled as the Erfurt line.
Johannes Bach, who made his mark
In Erfurt, was the patriarch.
And since it is his natal day,
It’s with regret I have to say
That the family DNA
Took genius in a different way.
You never know which family branch’ll
End up being most substantial.
