Niels Gade (22 February 1817 – 21 December 1890) was the best known Danish composer of the nineteenth century.

Though Gade is loved by the Danes,

In the rest of the world he maintains

A precarious niche

In the repertoire, which

Nacio Herb Brown (22 February 1896 – 28 September 1964) was an American composer of popular songs, especially in the 1920s and 30s. 

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Renaissance

Many of his earlier songs were used memorably in the film Singin' in the Rain (1952).
