Eduard Strauss (15 March 1835 – 28 December 1916) was an Austrian composer and member of the famous Strauss family.
Dance, Dance, Dance
While he found time to pen a few lovely waltzes, he stamped his own mark with the quick polka, known in German as the "polka-schnell". adapted from Wikipedia
Like others in the family vaults, he
Had success by being waltzy,
But Eduard Strauss did rather well
When focused on the “polka-schnell”.
It’s said the fortune he amassed
Was earned by playing very fast.
And polkas act like smelling salts
For those who tire of the waltz.
