Kay Swift (19 April 1897 – 28 January 1993) was an American composer of popular and classical music. She had a prolonged affair with composer George Gershwin.

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Swift as a Thought


Gershwin and Swift's affair lasted over ten years in all, until his death in 1937. Despite their long relationship, Kay and George never married.  As the couple [George Gershwin and Kay Swift] entered a nightclub one evening, Oscar Levant reportedly announced, "Ah, look!
