Persuasion

A theory professor grew weary

When, year after year after year, he

Faced a new class

To be converted en masse

To the truth of Schenkerian theory.

The theory department was cheery,

The meeting had gotten, well, beery,

But disaster occurred

When the chairman averred

That he hated Schenkerian theory.
