Sara Carter (21 July 1898 – 8 January 1979) was an American country music musician, singer, and songwriter.

In eighteen hundred ninety-six
A girl was born out in the sticks,
Who later, with her married name,
Was part of Carter Family fame.
And with her family country act
She did damn well!… and that’s a fact.
