Doing It All

Pedrell’s first composition pupils were Isaac Albénia and Enrique Granados. As a musicologist, Pedrell worked particularly in the early music field and edited Victoria’s opera omnia.  – heavily adapted from Wikipedia

Upon this day it would be swell

To think about Felip Pedrell,

Whose career became a long campaign

To strengthen music life in Spain.

He played guitar, taught composition,

And then took on another mission

When adding as a special glory, a

A new edition of Victoria.

Johann Adam Birkenstock (19 February 1687 – 26 February 1733) was a German composer and violinist.  He seems to have been unrelated to the shoe manufacturers.

Biographical Footnote

Johann Adam Birkenstock

Didn’t aim to awe of shock,

While living life without chagrin,

And playing on his violin.

He worked at court, avoiding scandals,...

And never thought of making sandals.
