Marguerite Long (13 November 1874 – 13 February 1966) was a French pianist, pedagogue, and lecturer.

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

Long, Long Ago 

Her life spanned pivotal moments in 20th-century music, from intimate collaborations with composers like Debussy, Ravel,and Fauré, to founding one of the world’s most prestigious competitions. -- interlude.hk 

Marguerite Long sat on her bench

And played the music of the French,

A thing she did with such finesse

That she was able to impress,

Fauré, Ravel, and Debussy,

And so this pianist ought to be

The honoree poetry,

Of poetry whose grand design,

Employs the Alexandrine line,

Instead of ditties such as mine,
