When easy listening records spun
On chic suburban hi-fi sets,
Mantovani was the one
Whose music was the safest bet.
When later decades used New Age
For quiet evening relaxation,
Kenny G was all the rage
And Yanni was a hit sensation.
In this the muses were short-changed.
Say what you will of Mantovani,
The record albums he arranged
Sound like classics next to Yanni.
