Henry Purcell (c. 10 September 1659 – 21 November 1695) was one of the greatest British composers. We do not actually know the date or even the year of his birth, but today has been suggested based on slight evidence, and since we have to celebrate his birth sometime, it might as well be today.

Is sung by them in such a way
That makes it pretty clear that they
Don’t know what’s meant by “sport and play.”

Niccolò Jommelli (10 September 1714 – 25 August 1774) was an important Italian composer, primarily known for his operas.

Jommelli was responsible for certain operatic reforms including reducing ornateness of style and the primacy of star singers somewhat; his reforms are sometimes regarded as equal in importance to Gluck's. -- adapted from Wikipedia

Have said his vision ranks with Gluck’s.
Thus, it might be unexpected
That Jommelli lies neglected,
Unlikely to be resurrected.
