Maurice Duruflé (11 January 1902 – 16 June 1986) was a French organist and composer whose small
body of work is still part of the active repertoire.

Duruflé was highly critical of his own compositions. He published only a handful of works and often continued to edit and change pieces after publication. – adapted from Wikipedia
Since Duruflé wanted perfection,
He wrote after deep introspection,
But in spite of this thought,
He’d revised what he’d wrought
In a continuing course of correction.
