++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Claude Debussy (22 August 1862 – 25 March 1918) was one of the great innovators of his time, and remains a concert staple.

Il pleure dans mon cœur

“He drove two women towards attempted suicides, and was completely incapable of selfless love for anyone except his daughter.” – Georg Predota, “Debussy’s Wives: Rosalie Texier and Emma Bardac” (https://interlude.hk/debussys-wives/)

Claude Debussy’s amorous passions

   Were conducted with gross impropriety.

He rejected the marital fashions

   Of proper Parisian society.

He treated his partners deplorably,

   And tossed them aside on a whim,

And that the fact that he acted so horribly

   Was of utmost indifference to him.
