Ivor Novello (15 January 1893 – 6 March 1951) was an extraordinarily popular actor and composer of musical comedies.
Through the Dark Cloud Shining
In 1914, at the start of the First World War, Novello wrote Keep the Home Fires Burning", a song that expressed the feelings of innumerable families sundered by the war. -- Wikipedia
While the wheels of warfare were churning,
And news from the front was concerning,
He had his first hit
By doing his bit
Towards keeping the home fires burning.

Glamorous Night
Novello renamed his new property 'Redroofs', and he entertained there famously and with little regard for convention. Cecil Beaton, noting the frequent homosexual excesses, coined the phrase, "the Ivor – Noel naughty set". – adapted from Wikipedia
The Ivor-Noel naughty set
Had parties where a tête-à-tête
Could lead to amatory pairs
On couches, beds, perhaps the stairs,
Which might have shocked the proper Brits
Applauding at their West End hits.
