++++++++++++++++++++++++

Bullet Points for Party Planning

When Martines’ father died unexpectedly, Metastasio helped the Martines children establish their careers. Martines and her sister, Antonia, reciprocated by caring for Metastasio in his later life. Because of their dedication and companionship, Metastasio arranged to leave his estate to them. Independent and financially secure, the two unmarried sisters managed a large home where they regularly hosted musical events attended by performers and composers including Haydn and Mozart.  -- https://www.amodernreveal.com/marianna-martines

The musical annals attest

That Martines hung out with the best.

But with Mozart and Haydn as chums

The question quite quickly becomes -

  • Who else to invite to your do

That is found in the same Who Is Who?

  • Who else to invite to your bash

Who wouldn’t leave feeling like trash.

  • And who could you possibly get

As a fourth when you make a quartet?

Is it true that one's options are tightest

When you hang with the best and the brightest?

Pete Seeger (3 May 1919 – 27 January 2014) was an American folk singer and social activist.  In the 1960s, Seeger re-emerged on the public scene as a prominent singer of protest music.

Chances Are

A radical singer named Seeger,

Continued, committed and eager,

Though the chance that his songs

Could correct social wrongs

Remained most decidedly meager.

Hammering!

There once was a Seeger named Pete,

Whose songs had a radical heat,

He vowed that if needed

He'd continue as he did,

And repeat and repeat and repeat.

Florian Leopold Gassmann (3 May 1729 – 21 January 1774) was a German-speaking Bohemian composer of operas and symphonies in the transitional period between the baroque and classical eras. He was one of the principal composers of dramma giocoso immediately before Mozart.

Moving On

Though he wrote in a time of transition

Herr Gassmann had made his decision:

He knew all the rules

So he had all of the tools

To embrace the new Classical vision.

No Pouting, No Shouting!

Unpack you mothballed Santa suits

And sing a song for J. Fred Coots!

Who had a few romantic hits

But when he is remembered it’s

More than likely that the reason ‘ll

Be a song that’s only seasonal.

So raise your voice though plants are sprouting

Give Santa Claus a springtime outing!

Although relatively obscure now, in his own day he was compared favorably with his contemporary and admirer, Mozart, as a composer of opera buffa. -- Wikipedia

The Fates, perhaps, have been unfair to

Vicente Martín y Soler, who

Conquered European stages,

But wrote no music for the ages.

Expound on the wherefores and whys?
