Carlo Gesualdo (probably 8 March 1566 – 8 September 1613) was an Italian composer who wrote some of the most intensely expressive and dissonant music of the Renaissance.

You may not know much of his life,
But you know that he murdered his wife.
With music so glorious,
It’s sad he’s notorious
For an ill-advised act with a knife.
