Backwards, Marschner

Of Marschner it’s perfectly clear,

That had he not written Vampyr,

His musical pages

Would be lost to the ages,

And I wouldn't be writing this here.

What's In a Name?

Marschner indeed was a figure of note

To judged from the musical textbooks,

But ask a musician to hum what he wrote,

And you’re sure to be met with perplexed looks.

Envoi

There isn’t a lot in

Your musical fame

If your music’s forgotten

And you’re just a name.
