Friedrich Kalkbrenner (between 2–8 November 1785 – 10 June 1849) was a leading virtuoso pianist and prolific composer.
Out with the Old, In with the New
After the arrival of Liszt and Thalberg, Kalkbrenner's fame was on the wane. -- Wikipedia
Kalkbrenner, a piano star,
Caused all Paris to adore him.
His technique outshone by far
Anyone that came before him.
But it tested his resilience
When his spot atop the A-list
Toppled to the greater brilliance
Of the upstart of the day… Liszt.
