+++++++++++++++++

Lorenzo Da Ponte (10 March 1749 – 17 August 1838[) was an Italian, later American, opera librettist, poet, and priest. He wrote the libretti for 28 operas by 11 composers, including three of Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Così fan tutte.

Reverse Karma

Both [da Ponte and his friend Casanova] were Venetian adventurers, kindred spirits, and seducers. -- Wikipedia

Lorenzo da Pante, the renegade priest,

Didn’t let vows slow him down in the least.

He consorted in brothels with his friend Casanova,

Ignoring the pact he had made with Jehovah.

So perhaps it’s surprising, (one wouldn’t have guessed),

That in spite of a life so unhinged and unbless’d,

He became a librettist who is often assessed

To rank in the standings with the best of the best.
