John Ireland (13 August 1879 – 12 June 1962) was an English composer and teacher of music remembered piano miniatures, choral pieces, and solo songs with piano.
No Eire for Music
Composer John Ireland wasn’t
A native of Ireland at all.
If you thought that he was, well, who doesn't,
It’s there in his signature’s scrawl.
He was born in the county of Cheshire,
In the northwest of England, you’ll find,
And was irked by the ignorant pressure
Of having his roots mis-assigned.
