Aaron Copland (14 November 1900 – 2 December 1990) is probably the best known and most beloved American classical composer.

Style Points

You can also hear echoes of Copland’s open, brash style in classic film scores for westerns including “Red River” (Dmitri Tiompkin), “The Magnificent Seven” (Elmer Bernstein) and a long list of Italian made “Spaghetti westerns” scored by Ennio Morricone, who showed that this “American sound” could travel. – Harvey Steiman in The Aspen Times

When Copland conjured up the prairie,

It's fields of grain and spreading skies.

Open fourths and fifths are very

   Helpful in the enterprise.

Connections can be arbitrary,

No one knows how they arise,

But soon enough they’re customary

And can’t be thought of otherwise.

Johann van Beethoven (November 14 [?] 1739 or 1740  – 18 December 1792) was a German musician, teacher, singer, and father of Ludwig van Beethoven.

Leopold Mozart (14 November 1719 – 28 May 1787) was a composer, violinist, and teacher, and the father of W. A. Mozart.

Parenting Skills

Johann was also aware of Leopold Mozart’s success traveling with a talented and young Wolfgang, and wished to duplicate their fame and fortune. – Wikipedia, s.v. “Johann van Beethoven”

Johann van Beethoven, Ludwig’s dad

Knew that Leopold Mozart had

Earner rewards without much bother

By simply being Wolfgang’s father.
