By Hand

When Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel

Was in need of a writing utensil,

She went to her loft (where

She didn’t have software),

And looked for a pen or a pencil.

Family Act

"In 1826/1827… some of her songs [were] published under his [Felix’s] name…. In 1842, this resulted in an embarrassing moment when Queen Victoria, receiving Felix at Buckingham Palace, expressed her intention of singing to the composer her favourite of his songs, Italien..., which Felix confessed was by Fanny." -- Wikipedia

Victoria might never have guessed

That the Mendelssohn song she liked best

Was really by Fanny,

But as a good man, he

Humbled himself and confessed.
