Ignacy Jan Paderewski (18 November [O.S. 6 November] 1860 – 29 June 1941) was a enormously popular Polish pianist and composer, and briefly politician.

Pole Position
“You, a famous pianist, a prime minister! What a comedown!” --Prime Minister Clemenceau of France to Paderewski at the Versailles Treaty conference (quoted as “possibly apocryphal” in Baker’s Biographical Dictionary of Musicians (8th ed.)
Paderewski , politician,
Started as a great musician.
First, a concert hall sensation,
Then, a leader of the his nation.
How did he stay unfrustrated
In a life so bifurcated?
That’s a skill of one who has
Glamor, talent, and pizzazz.
