Anton Webern (3 December 1883 – 15 September 1945) was one of the most important composers of the 20th century.

When Webern sat down to compose,
As a thorough analysis shows,
His every motif,
Be it ever so brief,
Is derived from his elegant rows.
(2)
There are thousands of pages of prose
Which explain all the beauty that flows
From each note and each rest,
In which Webern expressed
His enigmas, which rival Godot's.
