Spur of the Moment

For Cochereau improvisation

Was part of his chosen vocation.

When he got on a roll

On that Cavaillé-Coll

It startled the whole congregation!

Ready, Ames, Retire

At present one seldom exclaims,

“I’ve got to hear songs by Ed Ames!”

It’s been years since he had a career.

Though you see by his dates he’s still here,

I hope that he’s living in clover

On the strength of “My Cup Runneth Over.”
