Johann Ludwig Bach (14 February [O.S. 4 February] 1677 – 1 May 1731) was a German composer and violinist, and third cousin of Johann Sebastian Bach. Technically the 4th is his Old Style birthday, but in spite of the inaccuracy I have decided to feature him today because it works out with my purposes.

Denn du wirst meine Seele nicht in der Hölle lassen, BWV 15, is a church cantata formerly attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, but most likely composed by Johann Ludwig Bach. – adapted from Wikipedia 

Johann Ludwig Bach, who was

  Sebastian’s distant cousin,

Gets his reputation from

  The family he was in.

But one of his cantatas has

  Receive some distribution,

But as a work of JSB,

  By cruel misattribution.

The ghost of Johann Ludwig is

  Uneasy with frustration,

By being thus co-opted by

  His prominent relation.
