Ernest Charles (21 November 1895 – 16 April 1984) was a composer of sentimentally effective recital songs.
I'll Sing No More… Than One
It's not that it's exactly wrong
To sing an Ernest Charles song,
But sentiment laid on so thickly
May leave your listeners feeling sickly.
No person with good sense devours
Marzipan and candied flowers,
But used judiciously they make
A charming icing on the cake.
