Royal Raillery

"My father is Rex, but you are a Greater Rex" -- George IV, as Prince Regent, to T.G.

Perhaps it’s true when you’re the one

Subjected to the verbal fun

Of George the Third’s most royal son,

It’s best, when all is said and done,

To feign amusement at the pun.

And though the joke, in some respects,

Is neither funny nor complex,

It’s wise to give your future Rex

The kind of feedback he expects,

For this, in turn, will have effects

On future patronage and cheques.

October 4 - Anonymous; Domenico Corri (The Musical Birthday Series, 2nd Annual Cycle)

Anonymous ( ? - ? ).  On some days there are few musicians of any prominence celebrating their birthdays. Last year I took advantage of this fact to feature "Anonymous."  This seems like a nice tradition to continue.

No One Knows

Though the survey was unscientific,

We found that Anon was prolific.

We tried for a while

To determine their style,

But couldn't be very specific.

Mixed Messages

“In 1812, Corri organised a concert [and] put together quite a contrasting program as the evening's entertainment: [Pergolesi’s] Stabat Mater combined with a Ball.” -- Wikipedia

When performing a work that was meant

For the solemn observance of Lent,

Perhaps it were best

If the evening progressed

Without waltzes to end the event.

That’s MISTER Buckingham to You!

“On April 9, 2018, Buckingham was fired from Fleetwood Mac… Buckingham has stated since that he would be open to rejoining Fleetwood Mac but does not foresee it in the future.” --- Wikipedia

Lindsey was fired from Fleetwood Mac,

And doesn’t foresee that he’d ever go back.

October 2 - Leroy Shield (The Musical Birthday Series, 2nd Annual Cycle)

Leroy Shield (2 October 1893 – 9 January 1962) was an American composer of film and radio scores.

Tell Me about Your Background

When writing the music for films of Hal Roach

He took an astutely pragmatic approach,

And this is why scores of the late Leroy Shield

Were playful and direct, and not out in left field,

And he never attempted to be avant-gardey

When writing the music for Laurel and Hardy.

Plot Synopses: A Career

Eliza, a pitiful flower girl

Becomes a society powergirl.

Guinevere put down her psaltery

And engaged in some adultery.

When the mood in the house was uncanny

Mary Poppins was there as the nanny.

When Maria made clothes from that curtain,

Her lower class taste was uncertain.

In Victor/Victoria, is it credible

That either persona is beddable?
