October 4 - Anonymous; Domenico Corri (The Musical Birthday Series, 2nd Annual Cycle)

Anonymous ( ? - ? ).  On some days there are few musicians of any prominence celebrating their birthdays. Last year I took advantage of this fact to feature "Anonymous."  This seems like a nice tradition to continue.

No One Knows

Though the survey was unscientific,

We found that Anon was prolific.

We tried for a while

To determine their style,

But couldn't be very specific.

Mixed Messages

“In 1812, Corri organised a concert [and] put together quite a contrasting program as the evening's entertainment: [Pergolesi’s] Stabat Mater combined with a Ball.” -- Wikipedia

When performing a work that was meant

For the solemn observance of Lent,

Perhaps it were best

If the evening progressed

Without waltzes to end the event.
