Marin Alsop, (b. 16 Oct 1956.), is an American conductor who was the first woman to lead a major American orchestra.

Alsop, of course, is a female conductor
Who conquered the forces that tried to obstruct her,
And striving with men in their old habitat,
She was “first woman this”, and the “first woman that”.
The fruit of her work, of her firm pioneering,
Is seen in the women and girls persevering
To follow their dreams and, in spite of opprobrium,
Join Marin Alsop on top of the podium.

Franz Doppler (16 October 1821 – 27 July 1883), was a flutist and composer whose music is still in the flute repertoire.
Same Name, Different Game

Suspect,
That his etudes and caprices
Can still have an
Effect.
