It Isn’t What You Zinck

In spite of his age of 71, Zinck still remained employed, working on his own to further music and singing in general. -- Wikipedia

I’ll bet you hardly ever think

Of Hardenack Otto Conrad Zinck,

And yet he did his valiant part

To bring the Danes the choral art.

He did this work with mixed success,

But he hung in there, nonetheless.

Five-Finger Position

Though years ago your student fingers

  Played old Hanon’s repetitions,

Even now the memory lingers

  Of those digital positions.

Even now you’re often haunted

Even now they haunt you still,

Is this what your teacher wanted

When they put you through that drill?
