Wanda Landowska (5 July 1879 – 16 August 1959)was a Polish harpsichordist  who was important in the revival of interest in that instrument in the last century.

From a modern point of view, these are hardly authentic performances -- Landowska's Pleyel harpsichord was a giant beast that bore little resemblance to any instrument of Bach's time...  ---James Manheim, at AllMusic

When critics complained of her that her

Harpsichord made such a clatter,

She said, “That’s absurd,

I would never be heard
