Johann Zumsteeg (10 January 1760 – 27 January 1802) was a composer and conductor best remembered for his solo songs.

Fate, the arbiter decreed
That his would be the humble seed
Engendering the German Lied, –
A handsome legacy indeed!
Or put another way, dear Reader,
Zumsteeg was the Lieder leader.
