Seeing Paree

During World War I, Donaldson entertained troops at Camp Upton, New York. His time there inspired him to write "How Ya Gonna Keep 'em Down on the Farm (After They've Seen Parre)?"  -- Wikipedia

One wouldn’t think World War One

Was a subject for musical fun,

But Donaldson’s hits,

With their droll comic bits,

Were proof that the thing could be done.

Thoughts on the Birthday of Walter Donaldson and Harold Arlen

While it’s true neither Harold or Walter

Wrote tunes for the Anglican Psalter,

Impiety never imperilled

The importance of Walter or Harold.
