Johann Strauss the Elder (14 March 1804 – 25 September 1849) was an Austrian composer of dance music.

Dynasty

He was famous for his waltzes, polkas, and galops, thereby setting the foundations for his sons — Johann, Josef, and Eduard — to carry on his musical dynasty. -- adapted from Wikipedia

It all began when Johann Strauss the First

Decided that the public had a thirst

To speed the wished for outcome of romancing.

With evenings spent in gracious ballroom dancing.

And Johann Strauss the Elder had a plan

To pass the waltzing business to his clan,

And thus the whole endeavor went dynastic,

Which all the other Strauss found fantastic,

As they contrived (together with their spouses)

To fill the world with younger waltzing Strausses.
