Kurt Weill (2 (March 1900 – 3 April 1950) was a German (later American) composer, especially for the musical theater.



 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

An Imaginary (But Plausible) Tale in Two Limericks


A singer who sought to beguile

The crowd at the Café Carlyle

Thought English translations

Of German creations

Corrupted the songs of Kurt Weill.


With a forced managerial smile,

The manager gave her a trial;

And tried to determine

If lyrics in German

Would sync with the Carlyle style.
