It was such a big flop

That they switched back to pop

To avoid a vituperative brawl.

 

 

II. Fellow Travelers

 

They are some who are held in the thrall

Of the music of Hindemith (Paul),

But it’s such a small bunch

That it’s more than a hunch

That they hardly are noticed at all.

As a composer he is remembered chiefly for glees such as "Here in cool grot". -- Wikipedia

Though the First Earl of Mornington was famous for glees;

Alas, he’s forgotten now even for these.

If you think that his signature “Here in cool grot”

Is still on our radar, I assure you it’s not!

(1)

The fastidious fans of Joachim

Were seldom so gauche as to stalk him,

When (rarely) a groupie

Got overly snoopy,

A bodyguard came in to block him.

The critics of Joseph Joachim

Were likely to praise, not to mock him;

They knew he took pride

In his serious side,

And they chose, in respect, not to knock him.

It must have been a private hell

To have a name outside the norms

When filling out official forms.

He could have changed it or withhelld it,
