June 15 - Edvard Grieg; Janet Lennon (The Musical Birthday Series, 3rd Annual Cycle)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Edvard Grieg (15 June 1843 – 4 September 1907) is one of the very few Norwegian composers to achieve a place in the standard repertoire.

Griegorian

To a Nordic composer named Grieg,

There was never ennui or fatigue

In his national tunes,

Which were ageless as runes,

And an old-timey source of intrigue.

Janet Lennon (b. 15 June 1946) is a singer and actress, best known as one of the singing Lennon Sisters.

Wunnerful

Back in the 50s

  The sisters began it --

Diane and Peggy

  And Kathy and Janet,--

Four singing sisters

  Whose last name was Lennon,

A vocal quartet that

  There weren’t any men in.

While working for Welk

  And his bubble machine,

Their lives and their music

   Were spotlessly clean.
