Peter Pears (22 June 1910 – 3 April 1986) was an English tenor and partner of Benjamin Britten.

Both peculiar and striking,
Not golden or amber,
Or to everyone’s liking;
But you’ll grow to expect
That distinction abounds,
When you learn to accept
His quite curious sounds.
