Roger Cook (b. 19 August 1940) is an English singer, songwriter and record producer, perhaps best known for writing "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing".
Thinking Big!
The jingle, "Buy the World a Coke," became so popular that its creators revised it, adding three verses and removing product references to create a full-length song appropriate for commercial release as "I'd Like to Teach the Word to Sing (in Perfect Harmony)". The full-length song was re-recorded by both The Hillside Singers and The New Seekers and both versions became huge hits.-- adapted from Wikipedia, s.v. "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony)"
When a song about Coke
Was heard in an ad,
Some broadcasting folk,
Said “That isn’t bad!”
And since people enjoyed
The corporate jingle,
It was soon re-deployed
As a jaunty hit single
Which endeavored to teach
The world to sing, —
A mighty big reach
For such a small thing!
