Burl  Ives (14 June 1909 – 14 April 1995) was an American singer, musician, actor, and author.

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Name’s the Same


If Ives (i.e. Burl)

Had given a whirl

To the the musical snarls

Of Ives (i.e. Charles)


It would have meant hives

For both of the Ives.

Antonio Sacchini (14 June 1730 – 6 October 1786) was an Italian opera composer.


 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Disappearing Act


In his own time, Sacchini was described as the champion of melody. Indeed, the composer Giuseppe Carpani said that Sacchini might even be considered the finest melodist in the world. – adapted from Wikipedia

Sacchini’s savvy with a phrase

Brought him European praise.

Alas, it was a fleeting blaze —
