Edvard Grieg (15 June 1843 – 4 September 1907) is one of the very few Norwegian composers to achieve a place in the standard repertoire.

Though meant as incidental
It’s far from ornamental,
It might be safe to say
It’s more famous than the play.
It has eclipsed its source, —
A tail that wags the horse.
