October 11 - Simon Sechter (The Musical Birthday Series, 2nd Annual Cycle)

Strictly Speaking

"Sechter had strict teaching methods. For instance, he forbade Bruckner to write any original compositions while studying counterpoint with him." -- Wikipedia

Simon Sechter,

  Doctrinaire,

Lived a life of

  Fugal fair.

Simon Sechter

  Would insist

That his student

  Should persist

'Til they wrote without

  Disasters

Counterpoint to match

  The masters.

If his students

  Got disgruntled,

Leastwise they were

  Contrapuntaled.
