Jenny Lind "The Swedish Nightingale" (6 October 1820 – 2 November 1887) was a Swedish singer who became so famous that her name is still a synonymous with "opera singer".

Missed Opportunities

On Lind's American tour she gave 93 large-scale concerts and earned more than $350,000 (equivalent to $10,887,800 in 2020). -- adapted from Wikipedia

Jenny Lind, the singing Swede,

Caused a great to do, indeed.

Her concert tour of the nation

Was a cultural sensation.

She earn, for this, enormous fees,

And would have earned much more than these,

But no one bought her tour tees,

Or purchased souvenir EPs.
