Russell Oberlin (11 October 1928 – 25 November 2016) was an American countertenor and founding member of the New York Pro Musica Antiqua ensemble.
High-er and High-er
Some of you remember when
Very few sang counterten-
-or;
Men who sang in alto range,
Nothing at that time was strang-
-er.
Oberlin did very well,
And in Great Britain, Alfred Dell-
-er.
Just these two, and these two only;
What profession could be loneli-
-er?
Now, with countertenors everywhere,
Some would wish that they were rar-
-er
