Giulio Caccini (8 October 1551 – buried 10 December 1618) was an Italian composer, teacher, singer, and instrumentalist, and father of the composer Francesca Caccini.
[amaril:li mi:a bɛl:la]
Caccini wanted to convey
The Passions in a brand new way.
He moved his stern Medici lords
With solo songs and simple chords.
We skip four hundred years untíl he
Is mostly known for “Amarilli,”
As sung with earnestness, but shrilly,
By students feeling rather silly.
