Yo-Yo Ma (b. 7 October 1955) is an American cellist, and one of the most beloved Classical musicians of our time.
Award Show
He has received numerous awards, including 18 Grammy Awards, the Avery Fisher Prize (1978), the Glenn Gould Prize (1999), the National Medal of the Arts (2001), the Dan David Prize (2006), the World Economic Forum’s Crystal Award (2008), the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2010), Kennedy Center Honors (2011), the Polar Music Prize (2012), and the J. Paul Getty Medal Award (2016). He has performed for nine American presidents, most recently on the occasion of President Biden’s inauguration. --adapted from www.yo-yoma.com
Yo-Yo Ma is well rewarded
For the things he has recorded;
And he built a small museum
Where the public pays to see ‘em.
Now there’s something to be said --
You shouldn’t believe what you’ve just read,
It’s time that I confess that I’m
A sucker for a silly rhyme.
