Charles Theodore Pachelbel (bapt. 24 November 1690 - buried 15 September 1750, son of Johann Pachelbel, was a German composer, organist, and harpsichordist. He spent the later part of his career in North America, principally in Charleston, South Carolina.

Falling Far from the Tree

The extant sources do not tell

Why Charles Theodore Pachelbel

Got the enterprising notion

To cross the wide Atlantic Ocean,

But I’ll speculate that he

Packed his trunks and crossed the sea

As a stratagem to flee

From Johann’s Canon (key of D).
