Harvey Schmidt (12 September 1929 – 28 February 2018) was an American composer for musical theater. He was best known for composing the music for the longest running musical in history, The Fantasticks, which ran off-Broadway for 42 years, from 1960 to 2002. – Wikipedia

Try to remember the late Harvey Schmidt,
Whose Fantasticks was mighty fantastic
In its forty odd years as an off-Broadway hit,
A period that’s almost dynastic.
It was shrewd that the cast, set, and orchestra, too
Were planned with an eye on the budget.
And if you remember the late Harvey Schmidt,
Applaud his success, don’t begrudge it.
